Illovo, Johannesburg – The Women in Sports Summit took centre stage as day one of the two-day programme got underway in Johannesburg.
Momentum hosted the third annual Women Who Make Moves in Sports Summit at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), which kicked off on Thursday, 8 August.
The summit is a two day programme filled with focused masterclasses designed to equip you with the tools and insight needed to build and leverage off their brands, on and off the field.
The event, filled with glitz, glamour, and the radiant smiles of women dressed in vibrant colours, echoed a united voice celebrating the success of women in sports.
Powerful women in attendance included Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis, former Spar Proteas assistant coach Dumisani Chauke, former South African Football Association (SAFA) assistant technical director Fran Hilton-Smith, boxing promoter Joyce Kungwane, SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao, and Western Province Women’s team captain Leah Jones, among others.
Returning for its third edition, bigger and better under the slogan “She Owns Her Success”, the event brought together women leaders from all walks of life, including sports, law, finance, branding, and business.
The warm and classy event, anchored by the bubbly sports journalist Kate Nokwe in her pink outfit, was officially opened by Momentum Group Chief Marketing Officer Nontokozo Madonsela, who welcomed the guests and kick-started the day.
Powerful speakers from various sectors shared their insights, advice, and lessons, inspiring and motivating the audience with their impactful words.
The day featured several speakers, including Emma Saddler from The Digital Law Company, Ntando Zikalala, CEO and Founder of To The Max Brand Management, and Mbali Ndandani, Chief Commercial Officer at Lelapha AI.
The day didn’t end there, featuring Sibabalwe Sesmani, Group CEO of Unorthodox Group, Janine Horn, Momentum Financial Planning Executive Financial Advisor, and Chauke, who spoke passionately about advocating for rights in the sporting industry.
As the day progressed, the speakers dived deeper into their teachings, with Dr. Keitumetse Mashego, a Clinical and Sports Psychologist, leading an exploration of the emotional and psychological aspects of sport.
