CAPE TOWN – Cape Town Spurs Interim coach Sean Connor says it’s only a matter of time before the team turns the wheel in the right direction.
Spurs had a rough start in the DStv Premiership, having lost eight matches in a row but managed to shock Orlando Pirates last night.
The Urban Warriors took an early lead after two minutes as they held onto the game to beat the Soweto Giant 2-1.
Connor, who took over from the Shaun Bartlett has applauded courageous Spurs at DHL Stadium.
He believes the team is not far from getting back to old ways and getting results.
“The minute you think it gets easier, this game bites you in the bum. So, no, it doesn’t get any easier, I’ve just said to the players in there that that’s one game. We’ve started a process,” said Connor.
“We’ve set a fairly decent standard. I think to be honest with you, this team, even earlier in the season, probably had better performances and got defeats.
“I think what we showed in this match was resilience, belief and trust in the process. So that’s a pretty good start. But no, it doesn’t get any easier and I won’t allow the players to think it gets any easier.
He has also shared what made him join the Cape based side.
“I have a really good vision for the football club and I shared that vision with the CEO and he wants me to help him develop the football objectives and the strategy,” he said.
“So it’s such a big opportunity that it was an easy decision to make.
“You can see a clear change in tactic information the way you’re going.”
