The 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon officially begins with six energising TTOM Training Runs designed to carry runners smoothly from base-building to race-day readiness.
From January to March 2026, the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon team, together with sponsors and running club partners, will roll out a national series of free, official training runs, each one a stepping stone toward the start line of one of the world’s most iconic races.
Six Training Runs, One Shared Finish Line
Think of these training runs as water stations along your marathon journey, perfectly placed to refuel motivation, sharpen fitness, and reconnect with the heartbeat of South African running culture.
The series kicks off in Cape Town on 25 January, before striding through Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, and Stellenbosch, with a second Cape Town run anchoring the build-up. Each event offers 21km and 12km routes, ideal for runners tuning their engines at different gears.
Open exclusively to 2026 TTOM entrants, these runs are about mileage, rhythm, camaraderie, and momentum.
“These training runs aren’t just preparation, they’re part of the Two Oceans spirit,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC. “They bring runners together to grow, connect, and share the journey.”
Why These Runs Matter
As any seasoned runner knows, consistency beats speed early on. According to Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, announcing the dates early helps runners lock in structure and stay motivated.
Start venues will be revealed closer to each date via social media, with local running clubs helping choose routes that deliver energy, safety, and scenery.
