CAPE TOWN – Aims to support sports development in South Africa, Engen has come on board to become the fuel sponsor of the Springboks officially and the main sponsor of Get Into Rugby(GIR).
GIR is a development program that aims to help and support youth in discovering raw talent across South Africa.
The program forms part of the South African Rugby Union’s (SARU) strategy to engage players of all ages to try rugby, play rugby and stay in rugby.
Engen is a long-time supporter of overall sports development and GIR stands as one of Engen’s many sports sponsorship programs that focus on youth to positively impact disadvantaged communities.
Since its kickoff in South Africa in 2013, The Engen Get Into Rugby has reached over 200,000 participants and played a key role in the development of girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 13, many of who would like to become successful athletes and compete at a national level.
The festival has successfully been hosted in Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape as well as KZN and Gauteng with plans to visit more parts of South Africa.
