CAPE TOWN – Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has announced the preliminary South Africa squad ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The global showpeice will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
South Africa is set to kick off its campaign in Mexico City, where they will face Mexico in a repeat of the memorable opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted in South Africa.
The preliminary squad announcement marks another important step in Bafana’s preparations as Broos continues shaping his team for football’s biggest stage.
The Belgian international is expected to trim the squad down to 26 players at the Union Buildings on Wednesday next week.
