The Glasgow Warriors will welcome back key players as they face the Stormers in a high stakes United Rugby Championship [URC ] top of the table showdown at DHL Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.
Glasgow arrive with their big guns loaded after being smashed by a whopping 54-12 at the hands of the Lions at Ellis Park. This defeat followed a European stumble against Toulon. Yet, despite the bruises, they remain top of the standings, four points clear of the Stormers and firmly in control of their playoff destiny.
Assistant coach Scott Forrest confirmed that head coach Franco Smith has delayed naming his side to give key players every chance to prove their fitness, a move that signals intent as much as caution.

“Obviously, we rotated quite heavily last weekend for the Lions and then the plan was always to then change back,” Forrest said.
That shift points toward a near full-strength Glasgow outfit running out in Cape Town, raising the stakes in a clash that could shape the race for home playoffs.
There is a surge of reinforcements building within the Warriors ranks. Captain Kyle Steyn is set to return on the wing after being rested, while the midfield pairing of Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones (pictured above) is poised to reunite, offering both punch and precision in attack. Flyhalf Adam Hastings is also back in contention after recovering from a head injury, adding composure to the backline.
“Last week was a good time for him [Steyn] to reset,” Forrest said. “He will come back in this weekend.”
At the same time, Glasgow are sweating over the fitness of scrumhalf George Horne, lock Scott Cummings and No 8 Matt Fagerson, with the coaching staff squeezing every available moment to get them ready for selection.

“They are still not 100% but we’re going to give them as much time as possible.
“Anyone who can be involved is going to be good for us, so we’ve held off naming the team just to give these players as much time as possible to be fit and available.”
Forrest expects a fierce contest against a Stormers side still smarting from a frustrating home defeat to Connacht. Cape Town has long been a fortress against Scottish opposition in this competition, and the hosts will aim to turn that history into a surge of momentum.
“That type of motivation takes care of itself,” Forrest said.
“We’ve played a lot against the Stormers over the last couple of years, we know exactly what we’re up against, a very physical team with a lot of flair in their backline.
“These are the games that in some ways are quite easy for the players to get motivated for because it’s the ones everyone wants to play in.”
The contest is set to be decided in the collisions, where momentum swings like a pendulum and each carry is a test of will.

“The team that wins the most collisions has a pretty good chance of winning the game,” Forrest said.
“That cuts across every aspect of the game. The same applies to them.
“We need to front up physically.”
With the altitude factor removed, Glasgow will look to play with rhythm and clarity, while the Stormers aim to unleash their backline like a breaking wave along the Cape coast.
Forrest also cast an eye on the broader playoff race, with Leinster building pressure from behind.
“I think Leinster are coming to form at the right time and they’ll probably look at their run-in and feel that they’ve got an opportunity,” he said.
“But I think the difference for ourselves and Stormers, and certainly the conversation that we are having, is that right now it’s in our hands. It’s within our gift to finish the top of the log.”
Both sides enter the clash searching for a response after damaging defeats, and in a contest where pride and position collide, the margins will be as thin as a try-line decision. Cape Town awaits a battle of power, precision and the relentless pursuit of the top spot.
