Meet the Two Oceans Marathon New Leadership

CAPE TOWN – The Two Oceans Marathon NPC (TOM NPC) has turned a fresh page on its storied journey, announcing a newly constituted Board of Directors that promises to steer “the world’s most beautiful marathon” into a new era of trust, transparency, and transformation.

Following its recent AGM, the organisation confirmed that Chris Goldschmidt will take the reins as Chairperson, with Glenn Muller stepping in as Vice Chairperson.

The pairing is seen as a steadying hand on the tiller as the TOM charts its path ahead.

“This is a reset moment for TOM NPC,” said Goldschmidt.

“Our mandate is clear: to restore confidence through uncompromising governance, transparency, and accountability.

“Working closely with Western Province Athletics (WPA), Celtic Harriers, our Ordinary Members, and Stillwater Sports as our staging and commercial partner, we will safeguard the organisation’s future, elevate the runner experience, and honour the trust placed in us by athletes, partners, and the broader community.”

Much like runners digging deep on Chapman’s Peak, the new leadership faces a demanding course.

Rebuilding confidence, smoothing out past rough patches, and ensuring that every stakeholder, from social runners to elite athletes, feels part of the race again.

The new-look Board brings together representatives from Western Province Athletics, the host club Celtic Harriers, and Ordinary Members:

Western Province Athletics (WPA):

Chris Goldschmidt (Chairperson), Nombini Zaku, Julius Oosthuizen, Achmat Jacobs

Celtic Harriers (Host Club):

Glenn Muller (Vice Chairperson), Armand Bam, Krishnakumar Patel, Sandiswa Ndlebe

TOM NPC extended heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Board for their service.  This officially marks the passing of the baton to a change of guard as well as the start of a rejuvenated race toward excellence.

And as the clock ticks toward the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, the excitement is already building along the Atlantic and Indian shores.

The iconic 56km Ultra Marathon will thunder off from Newlands Main Road on Saturday, 11 April 2026, winding its way to the UCT Rugby Fields in Rondebosch.

The following day, Sunday, 12 April 2026, the Half Marathon will follow suit, giving thousands of runners their moment under Cape Town’s crisp autumn skies.

With cut-offs of seven hours for the Ultra and three-and-a-half for the Half, the challenge remains as thrilling as ever.

It will be a test of grit, rhythm, and heart that keeps South Africa’s running community coming back for more.

As the new Board takes its mark, one thing is certain: the Two Oceans Marathon is ready to find its stride again. It’s not just about running a race, but restoring a legacy.
