Hunt frustrated as Polokwane City fight back for six-goal thriller

CAPE TOWN – Stellenbosch FC were forced to settle for a share of the spoils after playing out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Polokwane City at Seshego Stadium on Tuesday night.

The visitors made a strong start and were rewarded in the 23rd minute when Sinoxolo Kwayiba found the back of the net as the Cape Winelands side levels the scoring after Giovanni Philander put the home side ahead in the 16th minute.

Gavin Hunt side extended their lead in the 60th minute through Devin Titus, putting the visitors in a commanding position. However, City mounted a spirited comeback before striker Ashley Du Preez restored Stellenbosch’s two-goal advantage in the 80th minute.

Despite scoring three goals, Stellies were unable to hold on as Polokwane fought back to secure a point in a dramatic finish.

Hunt was disappointed that his side failed to claim all three points.

“Like I said earlier, nobody comes and scores three goals against Polokwane City and draws a game. You should be winning the game,” said frustrated Hunt.

“So I thought, you know, I mean, disappointed not to draw the game. I thought we were really good in the first half, played some good football.”

Hunt added: “But as I say again, nobody comes in and scores three goals and draws. We’ve got to win a game like that”
