Former CT City goalkeeper signs with Durban City

CAPE TOWN – Former Cape Town City FC goalkeeper Darren Keet has signed with newly promoted Durban City FC ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership season.

The 35-year-old was one of nine players who parted ways with the Cape-based side earlier this month following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Joining him in Gavin Hunt’s squad are former Stellenbosch FC defender Liam De Kock, Ghanaian international goalkeeper Fredrick Asare, Trevor Mokwena from Upington City, and midfielder Brooklyn Poggenpoel.

The Cape Town-born joined Cape Town City in June 2021 as a replacement for Peter Leeuwenburgh.

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper stayed with the Citizens, making over 80 appearances before their relegation to the National First Division.

Hunt will be working alongside the club’s technical director Ernst Middendorp, former SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo, and newly appointed goalkeeper coach Rowen Fernandez.
