CAPE TOWN – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says even though South Africa already qualified for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the aim is to finish in first place in the group.
Broos charges are facing South Sudan in the Group K clash on Tuesday night at DHL Stadium.
Coming to Cape Town already booked their spot in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, South Africa is expected to field their strong side.
Broos says the team will take the game seriously, not as a friendly game.
“We want to win the game, this is not a friendly game. For us it’s an important game because we want to be first in the group,” said Broos.
“We also want to show something, if my information is right, to the crowd who will be in the stadium.
“So we’ve got two amazing evenings in Bloemfontein and in Gqeberha with the crowd in the stadium and with a nice win. So we will do that again here in Cape Town.
“That means that we are still motivated for the game and again it’s very important for us that we are or that we can finalise those qualifiers as first in the group.”
