South Africa’s Prudence Sekgodiso ran a brilliant tactical race in the 800m semi-final here at the Stade de France Stadium to book her spot in the final of the women’s 800m.
She was cool and composed, cruising home in 2nd place in her semi-final in 1:57.57 and was visibly elated after crossing the finish line.

This is an event that is dear to South Africans, of course, with Caster Semenya having bagged gold at both the 2012 London Olympics and at Rio 2016.
Sekgodiso has the third-fastest time heading into the final, and this is now a very real medal hope for South Africa.
The 800m final will take place on Monday night at 21.47 (SA time).
