Hollywood Athletics Club has been given a boost with the news that Nkosikhona “Pitbull” Mhlakwana has decided to renew his contract.
The 30-year-old from Howick in Kwazulu-Natal officially signed his new contract with Hollywood Athletics Club, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Pitbull says he aims to kickstart the season with shorter distances, gradually progressing towards major events.
“I am mentally and physically prepared for the 2024 running season,” said Nkosikhona in a press release.
With the Comrades Marathon reverting to the uprun this year, Nkosikhona is determined to surpass his previous performance from his debut in 2019.
Over the last two editions of The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, he consistently secured a spot in the top 3.
Despite his success in the Mother City Nkosikhona has indicated a change in focus, choosing this year’s Runified City 50km in Gqeberha, instead of the Two Oceans Marathon.
“This year is unique, and we must approach things differently” said Nkosikhona.
The club is thrilled to announce Nkosikhona’s recommitment. “We are excited to have him re-sign with the club, and our goal is to continually elevate our runners, ensuring they are serious contenders at every race, these are exciting times for Hollywood Athletics Club,” said Club Chairman Greg Glossop.
The club is committed to retaining top-tier athletes and the re-signing of Nkosikhona Mhlakwana, cements that vision.
