CAPE TOWN – The City of Cape Town Council has approved that the Events Department enter negotiations for three-year sponsorship agreement for the Cape Town Ladies Open.
The agreement would be in place for the 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 financial years.
As one of the country’s prestigious professional women’s golf tournaments, the Cape Town Ladies Open has contributed to elevating the status of women’s golf in the country, developing golfers and providing them with a platform to compete for big prize money.
Hosted in the Mother City over the last nine years, the tournament attracts over 70 local and international golfers from over 20 countries.
The City has partnered with the tournament not only for the economic benefits it provides for the local economy, but for the event’s focus on developing young female golfers to graduate from amateur to pros.
‘The City’s sponsorship, along with support from other partners, has helped this event grow to what it is today. Locking in the three-year sponsorship will create room for greater growth, ensuring that we are not only contributing to the empowerment of women in sports, but also promoting Cape Town to the world,’ said JP Smith.
The 2024 edition of the Cape Town Ladies Open is scheduled to take place from 13 – 15 March 2024 at the Royal Cape Golf Club.
