Dobson excited of the Boks return

CAPE TOWN – The Stormers head coach John Dobson has admitted the return of the Springboks will give his side a much needed boost.

Stormers will look to redeem themselves when they host the Italian side Zebre in the United Rugby Championship
round seven at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday.

Dobson’s charges are currently sitting in 12th position, having lost four matches and winning just two.

Flyhalf Manie Libbok, fullback Damian Willemse, tighthead prop Frans Malherbe and loose forward Deon Fourie who were part of the Springbok rugby world cup winning side trained with the team on Tuesday.

He believes the energy they brought will help the team to get back to winning ways.

“I think it was, as we know, a tough trip last week, but just the energy the guys like Manie, Damian, Dion, Frans, everybody brought,” said Dobson.

“You know, the guys that we didn’t have with us, like Hacjivah [Dayimani], there are a couple of guys that have come back from injury.

“Obviously, BJ [Ben-Jason Dixon] and Evan [Roos] back fit again. So it feels very different to what it felt last week, to be honest.

“We under-delivered on tour. So it’s really important to us to start getting some momentum in this competition.

“We’ve certainly lost it and faulted. So, you know, but, listen, five of our six games have been away. But we just need it. It makes home even more important for us now.”
