CAPE TOWN – For the twelve times in its history, Australia has been crowned the 2023 World Netball Cup.
The Australian Diamonds have defeated England 61-45 at CTICC on Sunday evening in the final of the Netball World Cup.
England has never won a World Cup before and was hoping to change all that in Cape Town. They have won one silver and several bronze medals at the World Cup.
The two giants played each other in the group stages of the tournament where Vitality Roses narrowly escaped to win the match.
However, with the new format that was introduced by World Netball, the two teams have met again but this time around in the last game of the tournament.
Diamonds attacking trio of Cara Koenen, Sophie Garbin and Kiera Austin dismantled the English side.

The first quarter saw the two sides tied up with 13 goals and it was in the second quarter that Australia showed why they are the world number one in the world rankings.
But in the end, the Diamonds held it together to end the match on a high taking the gold medal.
