CAPE TOWN – Global sports company Puma has announced a long-term extension to the exclusive kit partner agreement with Netball SA.
The agreement, originally signed in 2019, sees Puma supply kit for all teams under the auspices of Netball SA including the senior and junior national teams, umpires, teams in the National Premier League as well as the Netball SA executive. In addition, Puma produces official replica and fanwear.
The announcement coincides with the 100-day countdown to the Vitality Netball World Cup which takes place in Cape Town in July.
Last month, PUMA and Netball South Africa unveiled the United Warriors kit that the SPAR Proteas team will wear during the 2023 season including when they compete for glory in the World Cup.
“In March Puma provided the passionate warriors in our national team with a striking kit and today we are delighted to announce the long-term extension of our partnership,” said Netball
South Africa President Cecilia Molokwane.
Brett Bellinger, who is the Puma SA Marketing Director added: “Netball is a very popular sport, especially among girls and women in South Africa, but had not received the recognition and support of other sports, especially men’s sports.
““As a brand we are committed to empowering and celebrating women in sport, so with this long-term extension we are reinforcing our commitment to support Netball SA and other team sponsors in bringing about positive change, so that the sport and the athletes get the opportunities, recognition and financial rewards that their world class talents deserve.”
“The World Cup is an excellent opportunity to grow the game by inspiring future generations of players. We would like to see netball across all levels continue to develop and provide many more opportunities for South African women and girls.”
