Five kilometres can be a sprint, a social stroll, a personal battle or an elite battlefield. At the Boxer Super Run Joburg, runners get to choose their own version of the 5km story.
When Marks Park Sports Club fires the starting gun on Sunday, 15 November 2026, the Boxer Super Run will roll out four waves, each with its own rhythm, purpose and personality.

The Open Wave gets the first crack at the road at 07:00, offering club runners, school teams and ambitious individuals a chance to put their fitness under the microscope and their personal bests on the line.
Then comes the Super Social Wave, with starts between 08:00 and 09:30. Here, the stopwatch takes a back seat while families, friends, colleagues, charities and social groups take centre stage. Participants can walk, jog, laugh and soak up the atmosphere. Costumes and colourful personalities are encouraged, turning the 5km into something resembling a moving street party.
The serious fireworks arrive later.

The Elite Women take centre stage at 09:45, followed by the Elite Men at 10:00. Both races are invitation-only and will bring leading South African road runners together for a high-octane battle where every second matters.
Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, says the four-wave format captures the spirit of the event.
“The Boxer Super Run is all about giving people the freedom to experience 5km running in their own way.”
Meyer says runners can chase a personal best, bring friends or colleagues together, or line up alongside the country’s top athletes.
“Each wave brings its own energy, but together they create the unique atmosphere that makes this event so special.”

Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores, believes the magic lies in bringing different types of runners together.
“The Boxer Super Run is a celebration of everything that makes 5km running so enjoyable.”
Some will arrive hunting seconds. Others will be tackling their first 5km. Many will simply want a memorable morning with people they enjoy.
“We love seeing all of these runners come together at the Boxer Super Run and create an atmosphere that is welcoming, energetic and full of personality.”
Pillay adds that the four-wave structure gives runners freedom to select the experience matching their goals.
“Whether you’re chasing a fast time, challenging yourself to achieve a personal goal or simply looking forward to a fun day out with your favourite people, the Boxer Super Run Joburg has a place for you.”
And that may be the event’s biggest attraction.
The 5km is the common denominator, yet the experience can be wildly different. For some, it will be a stopwatch duel. For others, a Sunday morning saunter. For the elites, it will be five kilometres of controlled chaos where hesitation can cost precious seconds.
Four waves. One course. One city.
The only question is: which version of the 5km will you run?
