Kaizer Chiefs secure Faiz Abrahams on season-long loan from Stellenbosch

CAPE TOWN – Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their squad with the signing of promising attacker Faiz Abrahams, who joins the club on a season-long loan from Stellenbosch FC, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.

Abrahams arrives at Naturena after progressing through Stellenbosch FC’s youth ranks.

The former South Africa U-20 international graduated from the club’s Diski Challenge programme before signing his first professional contract with the Cape Winelands outfit ahead of last season.

The move comes just days after the Soweto giants completed the signing of another Stellies forward, Langelihle Phili, as Chiefs continue to bolster their attacking options this season.

Abrahams who hails from Valhalla Park in Cape Town, made his senior debut for Stellenbosch against Chiefs – the very club he has now joined.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi also received a favourable start to their continental campaign after being handed a bye in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.

As one of the seeded teams in Thursday’s draw, Amakhosi will only enter the competition in the second preliminary round, meaning they will not be in action during the opening round of fixtures in September.

Instead, Chiefs’ CAF Confederation Cup campaign will begin towards the end of October, where they will take on the winner of the first preliminary round tie between Zambia’s Red Arrows and Madagascan outfit FC Rogues for a place in the group stage.
