Chiefs beat Arrows as Sekhukhune suffer defeat on Betway Premiership return

CAPE TOWN – Kaizer Chiefs claimed a crucial victory over Golden Arrows, while Stellenbosch FC tasted a victory as the Betway Premiership resumed action.

A 38th-minute header from a set piece by defender Aden McCarthy proved to be the decisive moment as the Soweto giants claimed a crucial 1-0 victory at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, securing their first win of 2026.

The victory lifted Amakhosi to third place on the log standings with 27 points from 14 matches, just two points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who also resumed their league campaign with a 2-0 win over Orbit College last night.

Meanwhile, at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Stellenbosch FC’s new signing Tshegofatso Mabasa secured maximum points on the road for Stellies.

The Cape Winelands side edged Sekhukhune United 1-0, as Gavin Hunt began his tenure with Stellenbosch on a positive note.
