Like a lead runner clearing the path, the rail agency will run additional trains across the Northern, Southern and Cape Flats lines to keep the city moving when the gun goes.
The star attraction is the “fan train” between Cape Town and Claremont, a moving grandstand on rails.
Supporters aboard will have front-row views of the marathon on Victoria Road, Main Road, Palmyra Road, Campground Road and Liesbeek Parkway. Think of it as a rolling chorus of cheers, shadowing the athletes stride for stride.
For those planning ahead, train tickets will be on sale at the DHL Stadium expo in Green Point from 16–18 October. On race day, PRASA will run special event services at regular intervals.
Timetables will be available at stations and across social media. It’s the equivalent of the official race pacer, keeping fans and athletes on schedule.
Parking, always a marathon in itself, has been made easier with secure and public Park-and-Ride hubs.
Southern Line commuters can pull in at Kenilworth, Heathfield, Lakeside and Fish Hoek. On the Northern Line, Vasco, Tygerberg, Bellville, Kuils River, Eerste Rivier, Strand, Brackenfell and Kraaifontein will provide much-needed relief.

The benefits go beyond convenience: fewer cars choking the streets, less stress over parking, and an affordable, reliable ride that gets you straight into the thick of the marathon action.
PRASA Western Cape Regional Manager Raymond Maseko said the service is as much about spirit as it is about logistics.
“We are proud to be part of this iconic event that celebrates fitness, unity, and the beauty of Cape Town.
“The activation at New Market Street in Woodstock forms part of PRASA’s initiatives to showcase its service offering while bringing the ‘gees’ to both runners and supporters.
“The region remains committed to providing safe, reliable transportation for this exciting event.”
With the Cape Town Marathon promising fast times and fierce battles, PRASA is ensuring the journey to the start line and the finish is every bit as smooth as a perfectly paced run.
