CAPE TOWN – Chippa United head coach Musa Nyatama says his side will be aiming to bounce back and deliver an improved performance after their disappointing results in the third round of the Betway Premiership.
United endured a tough outing on Tuesday, when they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of TS Galaxy in their Betway Premiership clash at Buffalo City Stadium in East London.
Chippa Mpengesi’s side has endured a shaky start to the new season, managing just a single point from their opening three fixtures after suffering two defeats and settling for one draw.
Nyatama was officially appointed in June as the assistant coach of the Gqeberha-based side, where he works alongside head coach Sinethemba Badela, bringing his experience and insight to the club’s technical team.
He admitted that the team got it wrong on the day, acknowledging that they underestimated TS Galaxy and ultimately paid the price for it.
“We still have 27 games to play, and yes, it was a very disappointing result – we are disappointed,” said Nyatama.
“We are also disappointed the people of the Eastern Cape. You had one shot on target until the 90th minute.
“We were very deep. I don’t understand why we decided to sit deep. In our approach, we thought we were going to press them high.”
Nyatama, who stepped in to take charge following the recent departure of Badela, emphasized that the team urgently needs to bounce back and regain momentum after a difficult start to the season.
“It’s a very difficult game again when we go away to Richards Bay,” he said.
“I don’t think they have done well in their games. But we also need to bounce back from this loss.
They lost as well, but we also need to bounce back. It’s not a matter of crying over the loss. We need to bounce back, and the sooner we get back to a positive mentality, the better.”
