CAPE TOWN – Chippa United have put in solid preparations as the Gqeberha based team gears up to kick off their Betway Premiership campaign with a home match.
Sinethemba Badela’s charges are set to go head-to-head with the reigning league champions in a highly anticipated clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
Badela acknowledges that facing Sundowns will be a tough challenge, but he is confident that his team has prepared thoroughly and is ready to give their best in the important matchup.
With several notable new recruits joining the squad this season, the Sterkspruit born coach is excited about the fresh talent and the positive impact these new faces are expected to bring to the team.
“This weekend, we might not have all our players ready to start the season, but those that are ready and have been training with us, I think they will do their best,” said Badela.
“The team has been training well, we’ve been preparing well every day, and I would also like to thank the management for helping us with some of the players that we’ve signed.
“We’ve got Thulani Mini, he grew up in the youth setups of Chippa, and then he went to Stellenbosch, so he’s back at home.
“We’ve got a lot of exciting talent that has not been given a chance in the PSL, and we are also looking forward to giving them an opportunity, but we are also not fully satisfied with the squad.
Badela expressed that Chippa’s primary focus for the upcoming season will be on ensuring that every player in the squad reaches a high level of high performance,” he adds.
He says that will happen with the aim of fostering healthy competition within the team and ultimately enhancing their chances of achieving consistent, positive results throughout the campaign.
“We are working very hard to make sure that we get all the players that we need to have a competitive Chippa United team this season,” he added.
