CAPE TOWN – Orlando Pirates booked their place in the MTN8 final in emphatic fashion after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at a sold-out Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, completing a commanding 4-0 aggregate triumph.
The Buccaneers entered the second leg holding a 1-0 advantage from the opening encounter and showed their intent from the outset as they looked to finish the job in front of their home supporters.
Pirates eventually broke the deadlock in the 36th minute when Thapelo Mokobodi found the back of the net following an assist from Yanela Mbuthuma, giving the hosts a 2-0 aggregate lead.
Just three minutes later, Pirates doubled their advantage. Gamphani Lungu converted after another assist from Mbuthuma to put the home side firmly in control at 2-0 on the night.
Sekhukhune struggled to find a response as Pirates continued to manage the contest and protect their aggregate advantage.
Deep into stoppage time, Kamogelo Sebelebele put the result beyond doubt, scoring in the 90+3rd minute to complete a 3-0 victory.
Pirates now turn their attention to the MTN8 final, where they will face either Mamelodi Sundowns or Golden Arrows.
