CAPW TOWN – Stellenbosch FC have continued to strengthened their squad for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season by completing the permanent signings of defender Given Msimango and striker Ashley du Preez from Kaizer Chiefs.
The double signing comes just a day after Stellenbosch confirmed the departure of striker Langelihle Phili, who completed a permanent move to Chiefs on Monday.
Msimango arrives in the Cape Winelands with a wealth of Premier Soccer League experience. The 29-year-old centre-back has made more than 150 professional appearances during spells with Highlands Park, TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs, and is expected to add leadership and stability to Gavin Hunt’s defensive unit.
Du Preez, meanwhile, returns to familiar surroundings for a second spell with the club. The Idas Valley-born striker began his professional career with Stellies in 2016 and established himself as one of the club’s standout performers before earning a move to the Soweto giants ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
During his first stint with Stellies, the 29-year-old made 98 appearances across all competitions over six seasons, becoming a fan favourite with his pace, work rate and eye for goal.
“Ashley has always held a special relationship with this Club and the Stellenbosch community, so we are incredibly excited to bring him home,” said Stellenbosch FC CEO, Rob Benadie.
“He is also an exceptional footballer who has consistently proven his quality in the Betway Premiership over a number of years, and we believe he will add enormous value to our squad both on and off the field.”
The arrivals of Msimango and Du Preez underline Stellenbosch’s intent to remain competitive this season, with Hunt adding proven top-flight quality and valuable experience to his squad as the Cape Winelands outfit prepares for another demanding campaign.
