CAPE TOWN – The 2026/27 Betway Premiership season gets underway this weekend with defending champions Orlando Pirates beginning the defence of their league crown, while newly promoted clubs look to make an immediate impact.
Saturday’s action sees Golden Arrows host Chippa United at King Zwelithini Stadium at Umlazi, while Pirates welcome newcomers Milford FC to the Orlando Amstel Arena.
The Cape Winelands side Stellenbosch FC face AmaZulu FC at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, Sekhukhune United take on Durban City at Seshego Stadium in Limpopo, and another promoted side, Motsepe Foundation Championship champions, Kruger United, face a daunting top-flight debut against Kaizer Chiefs at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
On Sunday, Richards Bay entertain Polokwane City at Richards Bay Stadium, while Siwelele FC host TS Galaxy at the Free State Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Mamelodi Sundowns will not be in action during the opening weekend after their fixture against Marumo Gallants was postponed.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) granted the club’s request following a disrupted pre-season caused by the tragic passing of midfielder Jayden Adams.
With Pirates aiming to retain their title and several clubs strengthened ahead of the new campaign, another fiercely contested Betway Premiership season is set to begin.
