CAPE TOWN – Former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel has been appointed Joburg Super Kings’ new Head Coach ahead of the upcoming Betyway SA20 season.
Albie played 1 Test, 58 ODIs and 50 T20Is for South Africa in an international career from 2004 to 2015. Overall, he played 319 T20s scoring over 4000 runs and picking up close to 250 wickets.
A familiar face within the Super Kings family, Albie has been an integral part of the Joburg Super Kings coaching setup since the franchise’s inception.
“Albie Morkel has been an invaluable member of our coaching group over the years,” said Rupa Gurunath, Owner of Joburg Super Kings.
“He understands what the Super Kings stand for, has built strong relationships with our players and staff, and has played an important role behind the scenes in player development. We are excited to see him take on this new role and lead the team into the next chapter.”
