CAPE TOWN – Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over ES Tunis at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, sealing a 2-0 aggregate win.
The decisive moment came in the 35th minute when Sundowns were awarded a penalty after Esperance goalkeeper Bechir Ben Saïd brought down striker Brayan León inside the box.
León stepped up to take the spot-kick, and although his initial effort was saved, he reacted quickest to convert the rebound and hand the hosts a crucial lead.
The result sees Sundowns reach the CAF Champions League final for a second successive season.
The results also marks their fourth appearance in the competition’s final as they continue their pursuit of a second continental title.
The Pretoria based side will now turn their attention to the final, where they will face either FAR Rabat or RS Berkane, who are contesting the other semi-final.
The job is done. The mission continues. The final awaits. A dominant performance by Bafana Ba Style has booked them a place in the #TotalEnergiesCAFCL final. 🔥👆
