CAPE TOWN – Mamelodi Sundowns climb to the top of the Betway Premiership standings after a convincing 2-0 victory over Orbit College FC at Olympia Park on Tuesday night.
The Brazilians delivered a composed performance to secure all three points and move to the summit of the league table. Sundowns now sit on 47 points from 20 matches, edging ahead of Orlando Pirates, who are on 44 points with a game still against Richards Bay later tonight.
After a tightly contested first half, Sundowns found their breakthrough shortly after the restart when Miguel Reisinho opened the scoring in the 47th minute, giving the visitors the momentum they needed.
The Pretoria giants continued to control possession and create opportunities, eventually doubling their advantage when Iqraam Rayners found the back of the net in the 59th minute.
Meawhile Pirates still have a chance to close the gap with their game tonight, Sundowns’ latest result ensures they remain in control at the top of the Betway Premiership standings, for now.
