CAPE TOWN – Kaizer Chiefs took a significant step forward in their Betway Premiership campaign after securing a crucial victory over Marumo Gallants, a result that allowed them to close the gap on the teams above them on the log.
The victory lifted the Soweto giants to second place on the Betway Premiership standings, courtesy of a long range 66th-minute strike from Makabi Lilepo, as the Naturena-based side edged Gallants 1-0 at Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Thursday night.
The win moved Chiefs to 30 points from 15 matches on the log, leaving them just two points behind log leaders and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who defeated Sekhukhune United 2-0 on Tuesday night.
