Like a well-timed water table after a punishing climb, the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon (TTOM) has strengthened its runner-first philosophy by welcoming Cipla as its Official Recovery Partner from 2026, in a new three-year partnership.
Founded in 1935, Cipla is a global pharmaceutical company driven by its purpose of “Caring for Life”. Its humanitarian approach to healthcare and deep community roots make it a natural training partner for an event often called the world’s most beautiful marathon – a race that tests endurance not just on race day, but across months of preparation and recovery.

“We are excited to welcome Cipla as the official Recovery Partner of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.
“TTOM is about more than race day – it’s about supporting runners before, during and after they cross the finish line. We are proud to welcome Cipla as our Official Recovery Partner, as their dedication to wellbeing and recovery plays a vital role in helping athletes perform at their best and recover safely.”
For runners, recovery is the invisible kilometres that determine whether legs feel like springs or sandbags. According to Wade Bromfield, General Manager of TTOM, Cipla’s involvement elevates the experience at every stride of race week.
“This announcement is about significantly elevating the runner experience at every critical touchpoint of the event,” says Bromfield.
“Cipla’s sponsorship allows us to provide tangible and professional recovery support where it matters most. From the Cipla Prep Zone at the Expo, to the Cipla On Route Recovery Zone for the Ultra Marathon (Hout Bay), and dedicated Cipla Recovery Zones at the finish for Trail Run, Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon participants, the focus is firmly on supporting runners when they need it most.”
More than 200 therapists will be deployed across race week. This is a major investment that turns recovery from an afterthought into a core race service.
“This partnership enhances the overall experience of the event and reinforces our commitment to putting runners first,” Bromfield adds.
From Cipla’s perspective, the partnership is about backing healthy movement and longevity, not just podium finishes.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon as the Official Recovery Partner,” says Paul Miller, CEO of Cipla Africa.’
“At Cipla, we want people to live a long and healthy life. Therefore, we’ve adopted a holistic approach to healthcare and wellness – of which physical activity is a very important component.”
Miller says supporting runners mirrors Cipla’s purpose perfectly:
“Supporting runners in their journey aligns perfectly with our purpose of ‘Caring for Life’, and we are proud to provide services and innovations that help athletes recover, feel good en route and hopefully achieve their personal best.
“From Cipla Recovery Zones to other engaging initiatives, we look forward to enhancing the runner experience in 2026 and celebrating the achievements of every participant at this iconic event.”
As runners crest Chapman’s Peak or charge down the Blue Route, Cipla’s presence aims to ensure that every aching muscle finds relief, and every finish-line smile comes easier.
