CAPE TOWN – Bafana Bafana booked their place in the knockout stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Zimbabwe at the Grand Stadium of Marrakech on Monday.
In a high-intensity Group B encounter, South Africa showed composure, resilience and attacking intent to edge past their Southern African rivals, securing a crucial win that confirmed their progression to the next round of the African tournament.
First-half goal from Tshepang Moremi, followed by second-half strike from Lyle Foster and a penalty converted by Oswin Appollis, proved decisive as Hugo Broos’ side secured a hard-fought victory.
Zimbabwe responded through first half clean shot from Tawanda Maswanhise, while an unfortunate own goal by Aubrey Modiba added to the drama, but it was not enough to prevent the Warriors from exiting the tournament.
