The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run is set for another breathtaking chapter on Friday, 10 April 2026, inviting runners to tackle ±16km or ±24km of raw, rugged beauty.
Like a long-distance runner finding an extra gear on the final hill, the event returns with fresh energy, sharper focus and the promise of a race day that feels equal parts pilgrimage and playground.
The 2026 edition marks a milestone. It will be the 13th running of an event that has grown into one of South Africa’s most beloved off-road tests.

“We’re proud to celebrate the 13th running of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run in 2026,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.
“After a pandemic-disrupted hiatus, the trail races returned to the bouquet of events in 2025, selling out within minutes and reigniting the enthusiasm of runners across the country.
Since their debut in 2010, these iconic trail races have captured the imagination of both elite athletes and weekend adventurers alike… We can’t wait to welcome participants back for another unforgettable edition in 2026.”
Like a runner cresting a ridge to glimpse the ocean for the first time, this year’s announcement lands with anticipation and a reminder that entries, once again, will move faster than a downhill sprint.

A Scenic Gut-Punch of a Course
Starting from the historic steps of the University of Cape Town, the route wastes no time before climbing into the pine-scented switchbacks of Newlands Forest.
Runners weave across the rugged lower slopes of Devil’s Peak, where every footfall is rewarded with postcard-perfect views of Table Bay, Robben Island, and the full sweep of the Cape Peninsula.
The terrain is classic Two Oceans: a mix of runnable forest, technical mountain rock, cooling shade, sudden exposure, and long stretches that feel like time suspended between earth and sky.
