A December Duel on Home Turf
South African hockey is gearing up for a sizzling December as the SA Men prepare for a three-Test showdown with India. It will be three nights where sticks clash, sparks fly and the rivalry burns hotter than a reverse-stick hit at full tilt.
The action opens 7 December in Stellenbosch before shifting to Hartleyvale Stadium on 9 and 10 December, marking a key step in the team’s 2026 World Cup drive.
New Blood Meets Battle-Hardened Pros
Five players could earn their first cap: Damian Knott, the IPT’s Young Player of 2025, plus Gianluca Virissimo, Michael Horan, Tevin Petersen and View Mbata. They join a seasoned core featuring Keenan Horne, Dayaan Cassiem, Nic Spooner and Mustapha Cassiem—players who’ve been through more test battles than most.
High Performance Head Reggie Smith says the squad is built for the challenge.
“This series is a fantastic opportunity for our squad to test ourselves against one of the world’s most explosive and technically gifted teams.“We’ve selected a balanced group of experienced internationals and exciting young talent, and playing in front of our home supporters will give the team massive energy.
“These matches are an important part of our long-term preparation, and we’re confident the group will rise to the challenge.”
Expect Fireworks in Every Quarter
With drag-flicks likely to whistle like tracer bullets and midfield duels grinding like gears under pressure, the three-Test series promises fast, fearless, world-class hockey.
