CAPE TOWN – Stellenbosch FC edged past Golden Arrows 4-3 in a thrilling Betway Premiership encounter at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night.
Both sides came into the match determined to secure three points, and the game lived up to its billing as a high-scoring affair.
Midfielder André De Jong led the charge for Stellies with an impressive brace, while Muzomuhle Khanyi and Langelihle Phili also got on the scoresheet to secure a vital three points for the home side.
For Arrows, Siyanda Mthanti, Sede Junior Dion, and Isaac Cissé found the back of the net, but their efforts were not enough to snatch a result on the night.
The seven-goal thriller kept fans on the edge of their seats and highlighted both teams’ attacking intent in what will be remembered as one of the most entertaining matches of the season so far.
Elsewhere in the Betway Premiership, Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Siwelele in a tightly contested encounter that saw both sides struggle to convert their chances.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Polokwane City, thanks to a disciplined performance and a crucial goal that earned them all three points.
