CAPE TOWN – Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns dropped crucial points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Marumo Gallants on Wednesday night at Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Sundowns took the lead in the 28th minute through striker Iqraam Rayners, but defender Keanu Cupido’s own goal in the 35th minute brought Marumo Gallants level.
The result keeps Sundowns in second place with 15 points from seven matches (four wins and three draws), while Gallants sit ninth on the log with eight points.
Elsewhere, AmaZulu claimed three valuable points with a 2-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.
Two goals from Hendrick Ekstein secured all three points for Usuthu at home, while Langelihle Phili scored for the visitors.
In other results, Polokwane City edged Golden Arrows 2-1, while Richards Bay and TS Galaxy played to a 1-1 draw.
