The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon is set to roll back into Cape Town in April 2026, bringing with it waves of anticipation and dreams of glory.
The race that has long been called “the world’s most beautiful marathon” will once again test legs and stir souls across two unforgettable days: the Ultra Marathon on Saturday, 11 April, and the Half Marathon on Sunday, 12 April.
But securing a place on this storied start line requires more than just fast fingers on a keyboard.
In true lottery fashion, hopefuls must cast their lot in a ballot system, with the first wave of entries opening Monday, 15 September 2025 for Blue Number Club Members Only.

For many, the draw is as nerve-wracking as race day itself. Will your name be plucked from the hat to chase sunrise through Chapman’s Peak and thunder home along Constantia’s rolling bends?

Organisers promise more than just miles and medals.
“The 2026 edition will honour our legacy while lifting the race experience to new heights,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairman of the Interim Board.
“We know that this event holds a special place in many runner’s hearts and are therefore committed to elevating the race experience to new heights, ensuring that every runner – whether seasoned or first-time – feels part of something truly remarkable.”
Michael Meyer of Stillwater Sports echoes the sentiment, calling the event part of South Africa’s “sporting soul.”
“For over half a century, it has tested endurance, united runners from across the globe, and become part of South Africa’s sporting soul,” says Meyer.
“We are humbled to step into the role of staging and commercial partner of this iconic event, with a responsibility to honour its legacy while building an even brighter future.
From its panoramic views to its pounding climbs, the Two Oceans is a test of endurance, spirit, and heart.
And in 2026, every entrant will receive an exclusive event T-shirt, a badge of honour to go with the medal, memories, and aching quads.
Totalsports, the title sponsor, adds its own rallying cry.
“Crossing the start line takes courage,” says Jonathan Stein.
“But it’s the commitment, the discipline, and the heart that make this marathon so special. Whether it’s your first or fifteenth, you’re part of a community united by passion.”
From the leafy start in Newlands to the triumphant finish on UCT’s rugby fields, the course is both cruel and kind. It’s a siren song of sweeping seascapes, punishing hills, and finish-line euphoria.
