The starting gun is locked and loaded for the Boxer Super Run taking place on Sunday, 12 October 2025 in the vibrant city of Durban.
South Africa’s most social 5km will not only get hearts pounding along Snell Parade but also put R147 200 up for grabs, with the elite men’s and women’s winners each breaking the tape into R20 000.
“The Boxer Super Run is an exciting challenge for elite athletes,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.
“With the guaranteed prize purse on the line, runners will be motivated to give nothing less than their best on race day.
“The Elite Race promises to be a must-see spectator highlight, and we can’t wait to witness world-class racing at its finest in Durban.”
Like a perfectly paced middle-distance race, this 5km requires both stamina and tactical nous. Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores, explains:
“The 5km distance demands both endurance and strategy, making it a true crowd-pleaser, and the prize purse is a reward for those demands.
“We are excited to announce a R147 200 prize purse for the Boxer Super Run Durban.
“This prize purse will be shared across both the Elite Race and the Open Wave. In the Elite Race, the top eight men and women will earn prize money, with the winners each claiming a well-deserved R20 000.
“In the Open Wave, the top three men and women in the Junior, Open, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+ categories will also be recognised and rewarded for their performances.”

The 2024 edition saw Precious Mashele blaze through the men’s race in 13:39.
He cemented himself as the fastest South African over 5km on home soil.
Karabo More stormed home in 16:16 to take women’s gold.
