CAPE TOWN – Cape Town City will join two Motsepe Foundation Championship sides Orbit College and Casric Stars in the PSL Promotion Play-Offs.
The Citizen finished in 15th position in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership following a 1-all draw between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows on Thursday.
City and United finished with the same points, 27 but the Pretoria based side has a better goal difference than the Cape based side.
Things haven’t been going well for the Mother City outfit this season, having lost 15 games, playing a draw in six games and winning just seven matches.
With the troubles that are happening at the Hartleyvale side, the 2024/25 campaign hasn’t been the best season for the side. In December, the team sacked then head coach Eric Tinkler who was replaced by the seasoned 65-year-old Muhsin Ertugral on an interim basis.
Three months later, Ertugral and City announced parting ways, in a move that the club says was “a decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible.”
Both Orbit College and Casric Stars ended the season in second and third place respectively after Durban City was promoted to South Africa’s top-flight football.
