#Twenty20Thrive: A Race, A Rally, A Revolution
TSHWANE, South Africa – 23 May 2025 – Like a field of wildflowers bursting into full bloom after a long-awaited rain, the SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane 2025 has officially unfurled its petals. With bold colour, heartfelt cause, and a full-throttle Hyundai Exter up for grabs, this year’s edition races in under the banner of #Twenty20Thrive — a theme that beats like a tribal drum, calling women of all ages and walks of life to lace up and rise.
Set for Saturday, 2 August 2025, at the vibrant SuperSport Park in Centurion, this iconic event is far more than a footrace — it’s a soulful stride through purpose and pride, where sneakers pound the pavement not only for fitness but for fierce, fearless female empowerment.
“For 28 years, the SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane has been more than just a race; it’s a movement that champions women, fosters community spirit, and inspires holistic well-being,” said Ralph Rajagopaul, Divisional Marketing Director of SPAR North Rand & Botswana, with the conviction of a man planting seeds in a fertile field of change.
And what a movement it is.
This year’s challenge kicks off with a thunderous heartbeat of generosity — a R60,000 donation to organisations that wage daily wars against period poverty, gender-based violence, and the many invisible chains that hold women back. These causes aren’t sideline charities — they are the soul of the event, stitched into its fabric like the neon threads of the race’s iconic t-shirts.
“Our continued involvement stems from a deep-rooted belief in the power of women and the profound impact a united community can have,” Rajagopaul continued. “This year, with our #Twenty20Thrive theme, we aim to encourage every participant to embrace their journey towards empowerment and health, and we are incredibly proud to kick off by supporting vital causes in the Tshwane community.”
As if the energy of thousands weren’t enough to ignite the day, participants will also receive an upgraded moisture-wicking race tee, exclusive entry, and the latest issue of My Tshwane Challenge Magazine — a glossy guidebook brimming with ambassador stories, prize opportunities, and inspiration hotter than a Jozi summer.
And in a thrilling twist that could shift your gears quite literally — one lucky participant will be handed the keys to a brand-new Hyundai Exter. Yes, from lacing up to cruising off, this event is a journey of transformation in every sense.
Registration is officially open, and like the last loaf of bread on a winter shelf, spots are expected to vanish fast. With only 17,000 entries available, prospective runners, walkers, and wanderers are urged to grab their place in the pack now.
Entry Fees:
- 5km: R180
- 10km (with ASA licence): R180
- 10km (incl. temporary licence): R250

Beyond the race, Tshwane will thrum with celebration. Local radio stations will take to the streets with outside broadcasts, while race ambassadors and city officials shine a light on a partnership that has long turned sweat into solidarity.
And for those who like their stride served with speed — the SPAR Grand Prix returns, once again showcasing the elite women of the South African road-running scene. Among them, crowd-favourite Glenrose Xaba, the reigning Grand Prix champion, whose journey continues to be shaped under the powerful mentorship of Caster and Violet Semenya — a coaching duo that walks the talk of excellence.
So, whether you’re chasing personal bests or simply the joy of being part of something big and beautiful, the SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane 2025 offers a path to thrive — one heartbeat, one kilometre, one cause at a time.
