CAPE TOWN – In celebration of Women’s Month, leading sports betting company, 10bet South Africa (SA), donated essential netball equipment to the Soweto based Ivory Development Academy to empower the next generation of female sports professionals.
The donation from 10bet which includes two sets of netball kits, training balls, and bibs, directly supports the academy’s mission to uplift aspiring female athletes by providing them with the essential resources required to advance their professional netball careers.
An organisation that has been instrumental in bridging this gap is the Ivory Development Academy based in Orlando East, Soweto.
Under the leadership of founder Mbongeni Zondo, the organisation founded in 2017 has made significant strides in nurturing female netball players.
“The Netball team was established with the objective of nurturing the talent present within our community and creating a supportive environment for young girls to develop their skills,” Zondo, founder of the Ivory Development Academy.
“Our aim is to help them recognize their potential and empower them to achieve their aspirations.”
“We are beyond grateful for the endorsement received from 10bet. This comes at a time when netball is gaining tremendous attention and traction in South Africa, and it’s heartening to know that companies like 10bet are expressing their support to NGO’s like ours by investing in the future of women’s sports.
“Our girls now have the tools and motivation to train harder, dream bigger, and realise their full potential. This is not just an investment in sports equipment; it’s an investment in their future.”
With netball being the biggest and fastest-growing women’s sports in South Africa, initiatives like Gear-Up Ikasi are crucial in ensuring that young women can participate, excel, and gain confidence through sports. 10bet’s contribution is part of a broader commitment to supporting community-driven development and ensuring that every young woman has the chance to fulfil her dreams.
“We were exposed to the Ivory Development Academy through our CSR initiative called Gear-Up Ikasi, which focusses on providing resources for sports in underprivileged and under resources areas,” Zanele Nhlapo, PR Manager at 10bet.
“As a brand passionate about sports development in South Africa, we are thrilled to harness the transformative impact sports can have within communities.
“Women’s Month is the perfect time to highlight the vital role sports plays in empowering our female athletes. With this donation, we hope to inspire them to pursue their love for netball while fostering a sense of pride and achievement in their goals.”
