Wellington – Former Springbok Gio Aplon and Stormers director of rugby John Dobson shared career guidance and advice in a Q&A session with Shafiek Mouton from F7 Sports Management at the Old Tannery in Wellington on Tuesday evening.
Aplon, who played 17 test matched for South Africa at wing or fullback represented Western Province in 96 games and played 84 games for the Stormers.
From 2014 to 2017 he played 62 games for Grenoble in France and from 2017 to 2020 he moved to Toyota Verblitz in Japan before ending his career at the Bulls in 2021.
The fleet-footed speedster also represented the South African Seven side with distinction from 2010 to 2012.
Aplon and Dobson in conjunction with F7 Sports Management and the Optimum financial Services Group gave career advice to young rugby players on the demands of professional rugby, studies, and the importance of finance management.
