Stormers skills coach Labeeb Levy and wing Suleiman Hartzenberg says playing during Ramadan strengthens their mental resolve.
Hartzenberg scored a hat-trick of tries in the Stormers comprehensive 43-21 thrashing of Edinburgh at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.
The Stormers out-scored their Scottish opponents by seven tries to three.
Levy revealed that the Stormers made an unprecedented 26 offloads in the game.
This speaks volumes of the players intent and the level of skill displayed even though they didn’t always make full use of the many opportunities they created.
Besides Hartzenberg’s sterling performance on the right wing, Stormers captain, Salmaan Moerat – who also fasted – put in a superb 65 minute shift.
Levy explained the significance of the two players remarkable effort especially since both players have been fasting for almost two weeks.
