Ntubeni: To finally reach the 100 caps is quite special

CAPE TOWN – Stormers hooker Scarra Ntubeni will be playing his 100th cap when John Dobson’s charges host the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship at DHL Stadium on Saturday.

The 32-year-old made his Stormers and Western Province debut back in 2011.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Ntubeni couldn’t hold his excitement and is looking forward to his special day.

The Stormers are coming to the match having hosted the Bulls last week in the North-South derby that saw the home side winning 26-20.

Ntubeni goes back memory lane on his sterling career.

“I think it’s obviously very special, and also like you just play, play, play, and then you get told you’re 97 or 98, you know,” said Ntubeni.

“So there was a bit of emotion yesterday, like thinking of all the tough times, all the times we wanted to give up, you know, having seven operations, you know.

“So I think to be able to reach 100, I think I’m very fortunate to keep getting another chance and another chance.

“It’s taken me a while. But, yeah, I’m excited. I think every time you get to HPC (High Performance Centre), you get to see all the jerseys of all the guys who’ve got 100.

“So to finally also be able to get 100 is quite special.”
