Trail Runners will be treated to exceptional trails and spectacular views at the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run that will start and finish at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate on Sunday 01 December 2019.
“We are excited to host the 2nd annual Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run in Stellenbosch,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.
“As with the MTB event, the trail run routes will encapsulate the splendor of SA’s most well-known town.
Trail runners can look forward to challenging, yet fun and rewarding routes and will be rewarded with spectacular views. The Festival Village at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate will be buzzing with excitement. Families and friends will have lots to do while waiting for their loved ones to cross the finish line.”
“Both the 12-15km and 5km routes will start and finish at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate on Sunday 01 December 2019,” says Pieter du Plessis, Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Route Designer.
“The long route will go through Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, Vriesenhof Vineyards, Coetzenburg and Paradyskloof. The terrain will include a good mixture of single track that is not very technical. There will also be gravel roads and two steep hills. This route is ideal for trail runners that have a fair level of experience. It’s not for beginners though.”
“The 5km route is ideal for runners of all ages, fitness levels and experience levels,” continues Du Plessis.
“The route will take runners through Blaauwklippen Wine Estate and Vriesenhof Vineyards. The terrain will be easy going vineyard paths with a bit of tar roads that will connect the mountain with Blaauwklippen Wine Estate.
“The top of the only hill will definitely be an iconic section on route. The view into Paradyskloof is indescribable. All-in-all trail runners can look forward to a really nice morning out in Stellenbosch.”
