Inaugural Momentum Multiply Sport SA Run looking to add a half marathon for next year

The successful inaugural Momentum Multiply Sport SA 5km and 10 km Run exceeded all expectations and will be looking to possibly add a half marathon (21.1km)  to the 5km and 10km events for next year.

The unique sold-out event that took place in Paarl on Saturday afternoon was run on a route set against the backdrop of Paarl Mountain and offered runners the opportunity to pass by some of the historic town’s most iconic landscapes and diverse scenery.

According to Junaid Moerat from SportSA, the feedback from the participants were extremely positive.

“There was a great festive atmosphere and we were very happy with how everything transpired on Saturday. There was a huge demand for entries, but unfortunately we were only allowed a certain amount of participants. We will definitely be looking to make this an annual event and get permission to increase the numbers for next year. We are also looking to possibly add a half marathon route,” said Moerat.

All the race winners, including age category winners, were the recipients of a combined cash purse of over R40 000 made possible by Momentum Multiply and SportSA.
Oscar Bestenbier  from the Tygerberg club won the 10km race in a blistering 31 minutes and 46 seconds.  He was followed by his Tygerberg teammate Austin Bestenbier (00:33:29) with Paul Thompson (00:34:24)  from Boxer crossing the finish line at the Courtrai Primary School.
