CAPE TOWN – Cape Town Spurs defender Clayton Daniels believes even though the team did not get much rest and enough pre-season training they are ready for the new DStv Premiership season.
Spurs will be playing for the first time on Sunday when they are visiting TS Galaxy following their five year absence into the top flight football.
The Cape-based side was relegated back in 2018, at the time the team was known as Ajax Cape Town.
The 39-year-old stalwart recently signed a one year contract extension with the Ikamva side.

“It’s now a new opportunity for everyone, we have a lot of young players here, fresh talent and amazing footballers. They want to play top league and show the world what they got,” said Daniels.
“We are all excited and all happy that we are in the top league. Our pre-season was cut short, we have to finish with playoffs a month later but that is not an excuse.
“Preparations were good and we played a few friendly games to get up to speed. One thing I can tell all of you guys is we kept the whole squad basically, and I think for me personally that’s an advantage for us.”
Daniels is confident the team will do well this season and as the experienced players have a lot to offer to the team.
Daniels added: “We have a lot of experience of players here who played in top flight football and we know what to expect and how it is to be a top footballer,” he said.
“We have to guide them on many things like facing the media, facing up to ten journalists in front of you and you don’t know who look at.
“We have to remind them how to keep working hard and not lose focus, especially in pressure mode. This season is going to be interesting, we are here to stay and make other team sweat.”
