Where to support?

RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town (RMB UTCT) looks set to be a bumper edition as events are back in full force and supporters are now encouraged to come and cheer on the runners.

Of the more than 2000 entrants of the various RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town races happening this weekend,  35% of the field are international runners, amongst them some of the top elite ultra-runners in the world.

The 100 miler race starts at 17h00 on Friday and supporters are encouraged to support all of the five races along the route.

This year also sees many international runners making the trip to this bucket list event, with a 23km, 35km, 55km, 100km and the new 100 miler race.

The 100km race traverses sections of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, Orangekloof, Llandudno, Hout Bay, the Constantia Winelands, the upper slopes of Kirstenbosch Nature Reserve and Devil’s Peak – and the new 100 miler race sees runners head all the way down the Peninsula on SANParks trails, to Simonstown and back to the race village in Oranjezicht.

These beautiful races lend themselves to supporters joining along the route to enjoy the spectacular natural beauty and a festive vibe, encouraging athletes and having an active, fun day out. Cape Town’s own elite runners such as  Daniël Claassen, Matt Healy, Brendan Lombard, Landie Greyling and Naomi Brand (now living in New Zealand) will be pushed to the limit against the strong international field.

Organisers are calling on Capetonians to come out and cheer for runners at the designated spectator/supporter zones.

  • Spectators and Runner Support Crews may provide assistance and aid to runners at the following Aid Stations and Timing Points only: Aid Station Signal Hill, Aid Station Kloofnek, Aid Station Llandudno, Aid Station Hout Bay, Aid Station Kalk Bay, Timing Point Black Hill, Aid Station Simonstown, Aid Station Kommetjie, Aid Station Noordhoek, Aid Station Alphen Trail, and Aid Station UCT.
  • Spectators and Runners Support Crews are not allowed at the following Aid Stations and Timing Points: Timing Point Platteklip Gorge, Aid Station Table Mountain (Scouts hut), Aid Station Rocket Road.

There are a range of events taking place at the race village in the days ahead of the races, at Gardens Rugby Club in Montreal Avenue in Oranjezicht.
